Excerpts from Uli’s artwork and poetry for “Summer” (above) and “Autumn” (below). Uli created the initial image for “Summer” (top of the page) by ingeniously combining two Rembrandt paintings on his computer and thus transforming them into a new image. The background is based on a landscape and the figure on horse back is known as “the Polish Rider”. Uli gave Vivaldi’s first movement for that season the title “Tales Of The Summerwind”. In this picture the rider represents the traveller through time and also the messenger. The blue picture below it is based on work by Albert Bierstadt, a German born artist who painted it in 1868. Uli added some elements and altered the colour spectrum.
The picture below shows an unfinished oil painting by Uli Jon Roth with the title of “Pegasus Dawn”and is part of the “Autumn” section of the booklet. Throughout his poetry for the “Seasons” Uli refers to ancient symbols of Greek Mythology, some of which he sees as Archetypes, which still have plenty of relevance today.
